Sole: A Philly Sneaker Documentary
This new film concentrating on sneaker culture in Philadelphia attempts to tackle its subject with an "anthropological" spin according to producer, The Dopest Ethiopian. It sounds pretty interesting as it does a lot of storytelling like this anecdote from Brian, owner of influential Philly shop, Sneakervilla:
"A couple years ago Brian realized he found the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Not the saving money kinda guy he needed to find a way to buy some bling bling (engagement ring). So he put his sneakers up for auction on ebay. It came to the last minute as he, his girlfriend and parents in law crowded around his little computer screen and watched the ticker go by. The final offer came from a sneakerhead in Korea. Let's say the offer was enough to buy his girl the engagement ring she wanted. "
Here's the intro for the film....
and I figured I'd toss in a couple of production stills just because I can. All photos are by Jimmy Sastra. Take a look at HIS BLOG.
